Balancing Yin Yang Forces

Positive and negative forces acting together create energy.  Yin and Yang represent negative and positive forces that are in constant movement, with each attempting to gain dominance.  When one dominates, an imbalance in energy occurs.  Its influence will subside and the other force takes over.  For instance, a slow moving stream will exhibit yin influence.  When it reaches rocks, turbulence develops and the water changes to yang energy.  The two energies can also change into each other in extreme circumstances.  For instance, ice can burn the skin.  The object of feng shui is to balance the yin and yang energies.  Here is a brief summary of examples of yin and yang energies:

Yin:    moon, winter, dark, feminine, interior, low, stillness, passive, odd numbers, earth, cold, soft, valleys, still water, gardens, sleep
Yang:  sun, summer, light, masculine, exterior, high, movement, active, even numbers, heaven, heat, hard, hills, mountains, houses, wakefulness
