Acupressure Points to Calm and Stabilize Emotions
When you would like a quick way to calm and re balance your emotions, try these easy acupressure exercises:
Sea of Tranquility (This point is located on the center of your breastbone, four finger-widths up from the base of the sternum.)
This acupressure point balances the emotions, opens the chest for deep breathing, activates the thymus gland and helps counteract anxiety.
Use your fingertips to hold the Sea of Tranquility point. As you do so, use your mind to concentrate on taking slow, deep breaths into your heart for three minutes.
Center of the Person (This point is located two-thirds of the way up from the upper lip to the nose.)
This acupressure point reduces emotional shock, revives consciousness, calms the spirit, improves memory and concentration. It is also helpful in relieving dizziness, nosebleeds, muscle cramps and pain.
Use your index or middle fingertip to press firmly on the Center of the Person point, angling the pressure into your upper gum. Breathe deeply as you hold the point for two minutes.
Sea of Energy (This point is located three finger-widths below the navel.)
This acupressure point relieves trauma, fatigue, dizziness, general weakness and confusion. With deep abdominal breathing, it helps foster security and emotional stability.
Place all of your fingertips on the Sea of Energy point. Gradually press in one inch deep and maintain this firm pressure while breathing deeply into your belly with your eyes closed.
