Acupressure Points to Relieve Anxiety and Stress
Here are some quick acupressure points you can use when feeling anxious and stressed. Note of caution: always consult your medical professional for any emotional or health issues.
Letting go: (This point helps relieve difficult breathing, stress, trauma, fatigue, confusion, emotional repression, choking and asthma.)
This acupressure point is located on the outer part of the chest, four finger-widths up from the armpit crease and one finger-width inward.
Cross your arms over the center of your chest, and place your fingertips firmly on both sides of your outer chest for two minutes.
As you hold these points, breathe deeply.
Gates of Consciousness: (This point helps relieve headaches, stiff and painful neck, trauma, shock, hypertension and irritability.)
This acupressure point is just below the base of the skull, in the hollow between the two large neck muscles, three inches apart.
Use your thumbs to press into the indentation located on the head underneath the base of your skull
Slowly tilt your head back
Close your eyes
Imagine you are mentally balancing yourself and relieving anxiety as you gently press up underneath your skull for one or two minutes
Take slow, deep breaths
Clear Mind: (This point relieves pain, shock, trauma and clears the mind.)
This acupressure point is one finger-width above the eyebrows, in line with the center of the iris of the eye.
Place your thumb on one side and your third finger on the other to gently stimulate both sides of your forehead. Use the lightest touch possible
Breathe slowly, fully and deeply
Balanced Love: (This point can instantly calm a panic attack and comfort your emotions)
This acupressure point is located at the base of the middle fingernail (the finger between the index and ring finger)
Hold your thumb against the base of the middle fingernail firmly and take long, slow, deep breaths for three minutes.
