Heart Chakra

If you think of the human body as an energy system, you can use various energy vibrations to interact with it.  For instance, sounds, colors, aromas, and thoughts create frequencies our bodies respond to.  Chakras are the primary mediators of all energy within the body and energy coming into it.  They assist the body in distributing energy for our various physical, emotional, mental and spiritual functions.  The chakras are connected to the functions of the physical body primarily through the endocrine glands and the spinal column.  The word chakra comes from a Sanskrit word meaning "wheel" and it helps to think of chakra as a spinning vortex of energy.  Energy imbalance within the body can manifest in physical, emotional, mental and/or spiritual problems.  The most effective means for restoring balance to the chakras is through vibrational remedies.  Here are some main points to consider for the Heart Chakra:  The heart chakra is attributed with influencing the function of the thymus gland and the immune system.  It is also tied to the functions of the heart and the circulatory system of the body as well as the assimilation of nutrients and tissue regeneration.  The heart chakra is linked to the right hemisphere of the brain and its processes.  The heart chakra is the mediating center of the chakras.  It awakens compassion as well as being the center of higher love expression and healing energies.  If stimulated properly, it opens sight of the deeper forces in plants and animals.  If the heart chakra is dysfunctional, one may exhibit anger, an expectation of confirmation from others, an inability to enforce one's will, financial and emotional insecurity, a sense of uncertainty, miserly traits, possessiveness, a need for recognition from others, jealousy and envy, self-doubt, a tendency to blame others and general mistrustfulness about one's life.  The heart chakra can be balanced by the tone of F above middle C, harps, organs, flutes, wind chimes and all string instruments, the long "A" vowel sound, colors green and pink, rose quartz and tourmaline stones and the fragrance of rose.  Source: The Healer's Manual by Ted Andrews.
