Base Chakra

If you think of the human body as an energy system, you can use various energy vibrations to interact with it.  For instance, sounds, colors, aromas, and thoughts create frequencies our bodies respond to.  Chakras are the primary mediators of all energy within the body and energy coming into it.  They assist the body in distributing energy for our various physical, emotional, mental and spiritual functions.  The chakras are connected to the functions of the physical body primarily through the endocrine glands and the spinal column.  The word chakra comes from a Sanskrit word meaning "wheel" and it helps to think of chakra as a spinning vortex of energy.  Energy imbalance within the body can manifest in physical, emotional, mental and/or spiritual problems.  The most effective means for restoring balance to the chakras is through vibrational remedies.  Here are some main points to consider for the Base Chakra located at the area of the coccyx at the base of the spine.  The base chakra is attributed with influencing the functions of the circulatory system, the reproductive system, and the functions of the lower extremities.  When properly stimulated, it can open awareness of past-life talents and ease fears.  If the base chakra is dysfunctional, one may experience reactiveness, aggression, belligerence, manipulativeness, impulsiveness, recklessness, an inability to recognize limits, abruptness, craving excitement, possessiveness and territoriality; needing approval, acting without thinking, power consciousness, constant activity (hyperactivity), reluctance to defer gratification, bullying and obsessive sexual urges.  The base chakra can be balanced and stimulated by the tone of middle C, bass-toned and percussion instruments, long "U" vowel sounds, the color red, smoky quartz crystal, sandalwood and wisteria fragrances.  Source: The Healers Manual by Ted Andrews.
