Re-energize Dedicate Attune Your Crystals

When you purchase a new crystal or plan to use a crystal for a different purpose, the crystal should be cleansed, dedicated and attuned.  There are several cleansing processes you can use to cleanse your crystal but one of the easiest is to put the crystal into the morning sunlight on a window sill outdoors (glass reduces the sun's strength).  Take the crystal inside at sunset then put it into the sun the next day.  (Note:  do not put crystal balls into direct sunlight as they can concentrate the sun's energy and start a fire.)  After the crystal has been cleansed, dedicate your crystal to ensure that the crystal works for the highest good of all the people concerned.  Hold the crystal in your hands, visualize it being surrounded by white light and say out loud: "I am going to use this crystal for the best and highest intentions."  If you will be using the crystal for general energizing or healing you can stop here.  However, if you plan to use the crystal for a specific task or type of healing, then attunement is the next step.  It is important to choose your words carefully and precisely so that you concentrate the crystal's energies.  To attune your crystal: hold your crystal in your hand and think carefully about your intention, the area you want to change, or how the crystal can have a stimulating influence.  Create in your mind the exact words you want to say.  For instance, "I intend this crystal to protect me at the office."  When you feel spiritually connected, speak your intention in a clear voice.  Say it two or three times to fix the intention firmly in the crystal.  When you intuitively feel the intention is locked in your crystal, put it down and move away from it.  If you later decide to use the crystal for another purpose, you will need to cleanse, dedicate and attune it for the different purpose.  Source: Crystal Energy by Mary Lambert.
