If you are not able to use one of the more powerful cleansing treatments of water, smudging, or singing bowl, you can purify your crystal with the power of your breath by sending an intention of removing negativity with your breath.  To do this, (1) take a few deep breaths and clear your mind.  (2) Pick up your crystal and focus on removing any negativity it holds, saying to yourself "I cleanse this crystal with love." (3) Breathe in deeply and exhale forcefully on it.  (4) Visualize any bad energy that comes off it being absorbed by the ground and charged by Mother Earth into vibrant energy.  (5) For a large crystal, breathe into every facet or side of the crystal.  Source: Crystal Energy by Mary Lambert.
