Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon (Citrus limorium) comes from a small evergreen tree that originated in Asia and is now grown in East India, the Mediterranean regions, Spain, Portugal, Italy and North America.  All parts of the lemon have been used for medicinal value.  The peel is used to perfume gloves and repel insects, the juice and inner fruit for their antiviral properties.  Lemon helps to decongest the chest and helps aid the symptoms of colds. flus and coughs.  Lemon supports the body as a tonic and is effective in ridding the body of phlegm and congestion.  It also assists in weight reduction and stimulates the lymphatic system.  Coupled with grapefruit, lemon helps decongest a toxic liver.  As a therapeutic agent you can rely on lemon's astringent properties and its energetic nature to improve circulation and tone capillaries and veins.  Lemon is one of the most beneficial oils for clearing the head, regaining focus and restoring trust.  It refreshes and uplifts, it can transform a congested and overburdened mind, dissipating confusion.  Lemon also helps ease worry and fear as well as encourages intuitive thought.  Lemon provides a sense of assuredness and can be used during decision-making, especially if your fears are taking you to your past.  The oil allows you to trust yourself more fully and uplifts and reconnects you to those things that are most important.  Here's a brief summary of the many benefits lemon oil can bring:
It addresses: congestion due to colds, infections, respiratory disorders, infected skin, slackened muscle tissue, poor circulation, low blood pressure, nosebleeds (when combined with Cypress in a base oil), a sluggish lymphatic system, coughs, obesity, stomach acidity, confusion, a lack of purpose and direction.
Lemon helps to promote: certainty, clarity, direction, sharpened awareness, sensory acuity, vigor, vitality, trust, purpose, focus, muscle and skin tone, venous strength, good circulation, digestion, and liver function.
Lemon is nontoxic but should not be used in the presence of direct sunlight or UV light.  Lemon should also be avoided during pregnancy.
