The Thymus

The thymus is located in the center of the chest, close to the heart.  At one time doctors thought the thymus gland shrank to an insignificant size and function when childhood was over.  However, contemporary thinking is that the thymus plays an important part in our bio-defense system and our immunity to disease during adult life.  This energy center or chakra is said to have the following characteristics:  Color: soft pink/blue, Key issues: protection, Physical location: The center of the chest, Physical action: Appears to direct life-giving and healing body energies, Hormones: Produces thymosins, Major function: Produces special lymphocytes called T-cells that are vital to the immune system, Secondary function: Regulates growth and muscular contractions, Lymphatic function: Connected with the flow of lymph through the body, Energetic action: Monitors energy flows, Spiritual action: The ancient concept of our "breath-soul".  To help your thymus chakra you can do the following: (1) Give love to others and yourself. (2) Tap your sternum a number of times each day.  You can either use your finger tips or the open palm of your hand, using a pressure as if tapping a baby. (3) Drink thyme tea once a day (unless you have a diagnosed heart condition). (4) Wear protective turquoise crystals or thyme-colored sugulite over the Thymus Chakra, (5) Visualize your breath as a blue-violet color. (6) Practice yoga asanas that expand the chest such as Bhungasana, the cobra.  Source:  The Chakra Bible by Patricia Mercier.
