Difficult Times

We are in the midst of a very challenging environment without much of a road map to lead us through it.  I know people who have lost their entire life's savings and are now forced to go back into the world of work at the age of 70+.  I know others who are quite young and just starting out in life who are moving back into their parents' home - often with several children in tow.  Yesterday I heard that a woman died from jumping from the 4th floor of an office building.  One of the larger employers was terminating staff - many who had worked at the company for over twenty years.  We each face our personal adversity in different ways.  Some see change as an opportunity, others seem to see change as an end.  I've tried to focus on the belief that I always have a choice.  Some of the options might be more attractive to me than others but I am never at a total dead end to my journey.  As these times unfold we will have many stories to tell the next generation.  But today we can't lose sight of the idea that the horizon is always in front of us.
