Mind-Sets
Disappointment comes from failed expectations. Depression follows, then despair and finally surrender. A failed expectation, if you cling to it unreasonably is dark and dreary and feels like running in quicksand. Once you set unreasonable, illogical goals or believe in illogical, unreasonable expectations, you are doomed to repeat the disappointment/surrender spiral. Break a mind-set by chipping away at it little by little. Important questions to ask yourself when you confront a patterned response will reveal startling answers: "Just how important is this?" "Who owns the problem?" "Who is in charge of this?" " What do I want to do?" " What is reasonable?" "Am I looking for negativity - anticipating problems which may or may not occur?" "Am, I wasting energy in a no-win situation?" When you gain insight into your mind-set, you can then build a new reality in your mind. By using your imagination, create a life filled with happiness and satisfaction as you define them. Then take that visualization in your mind and apply your personal energy through directed thoughts, words and actions to change your reality from what you currently perceive it to be to the reality you have created in your mind.
