Since I started ballroom dancing I also started to visit consignment shops.  I've discovered consignment shops are a great source for creative items to wear to the ballroom.  And as I browse through the items, I often think about the memories each garment holds.  I am certain the sequined gowns saw happy times and holiday celebrations.  I'm also pleased I can extend those happy memories.  But while browsing the shops, I've also discovered there's a unique type of fiftyish diva who is able to put together items from a consignment store and make a unique statement that is a bit outlandish but yet seems to make sense for her.  Yesterday I encountered two such ladies.  They were totally comfortable in their outfits and somehow looked quite stylish but I don't think the assemblage would have worked on me or anyone I know.  It's as if the world of consignment offers an avenue for creativity not readily available elsewhere.
