I have a regular dance partner who's a really great guy. I also have from time to time offers from other gentlemen to do different activities that would interfere with my dancing. I choose to decline the other offers because I place a greater importance on maintaining the relationship I have with my dance partner. Some might say this is foolish - turning down an offer to attend an event that might be exciting or new seems like a dumb thing to do. But I feel it's more important to respect the solid relationship my dance partner and I have built over the past five years. I know when I go to the ballroom I will be able to dance all the dances I choose to dance - with someone who is an accomplished dancer. Yes, an odd night out with someone else might be interesting, but I'd rather enjoy the company of someone who's been there - regular as clockwork to someone who might be gone tomorrow. Being a fiftyish diva definitely has it's advantages!
