Alterations
Since I started working out at the gym, I've reshaped my body a bit and have more "curves" as I develop muscle mass. This is not to say I'm going to enter any body building competition, but I do find that some of my clothes fit differently. One of the big differences is in my ballroom dance dresses. Most women have their dresses altered at the waist. Fortunately, that's not where I have alterations done. I find that my upper back has developed muscles and my strapless dresses won't zip up all the way. Today I just picked up one of those lucky dresses that got altered. The dress was constructed in such a manner that it wasn't possible to just let out a seam here and there to solve the problem but when I left it with the seamstress, I was sure she'd come up with some way to make the necessary adjustment. And did she! She found a perfect match of material for the red satin dress. She lowered the top of the zipper so that it will close completely, then added an attractive piece of fabric I can close with a hook and eye and covered that with a cute bow. This is an excellent example of someone who is good at her craft. I've had similar creativity shown by the gentleman who details my car from time to time. And the checkout clerk at the local supermarket has shown sparks of ingenuity in how she handles my transactions. We all have that opportunity to make our job special. We can do little things to show those customers who visit us that we're more than automatons doing our job. Rather, we're vibrant, creative beings, proud of the effort we put forth.
