Humor
Humor is often a concept I find difficult to get my arms around. I've been an observer during conversations where one person's comment was masked as humor directed at another but really contained a burning insult. However, since the comment was masked as humor, it almost obligated the other person to accept the comment without rebuttal. Other times, the silliest thing can seem so hilarious to me. Certain comedians have developed an excellent sense of timing in delivering their message so that ordinary conversation or behavior can leave an audience in stitches. We seem to have some collective sense of humor as a generation so that certain skits and jokes seem quite funny but as time passes, they can lose their humor and seem almost bewildering to a younger generation. I generally tend to be so serious in my daily life that much of life's lighter moments just whiz right by me. Since I've reached fiftyish-diva status, I intend to change those missed moments into times of laughter and appreciation of the lighter side of life. Now if I could just figure out just what makes good humor good!
