Dancing

A few years ago I decided I wanted to learn to dance.  So I started taking ballroom dance lessons and this has become one of the best decisions I've made in a long time.  At my age, I'm not really excited about sitting on a bar stool (actually, I've never been interested in siting on a bar stool regardless of my age).  The ballroom provides an environment where one can socialize without the pressures of a dating environment.  Of course, many people have met at a ballroom and subsequently married, but that's not necessarily the objective of everyone in the ballroom.  Learning to express the different dances correctly is a challenge, it's like asking the body to learn a language.  One also needs to understand how to move in partnership....the man learns to lead, and the lady learns how to interpret what the man is intending to do.  The best part of all this is that it seems age-resistant.  People are able to dance into their nineties!  Another interesting observation is that generally, most dancers appear to be in good physical condition for their age.  You can get started without much investment.  Most ballrooms offer group lessons and social dances at a very reasonable price.
