Traditions

I've spent holidays with family, with friends, with a combination of family and friends, and even by myself.  At this point in my life I find I like to keep the traditions I enjoy the most and let the other events just fall by the wayside.  Today is Thanksgiving and to me, that means cooking a great feast.  I enjoy the creative process of putting a meal together.  This year I chose to make a somewhat traditional meal but spend the rest of the day in a somewhat untraditional manner.  I went bowling.  Yes, bowling with my ballroom dance partner.  This is the second week we've been bowling....I decided a couple of weeks ago that I had totally lost contact with the skills I had developed years ago and so I'm determined to resurrect my old bowling form.  Well, this activity turned out to be quite fun.  I still had the traditional dinner (I took my dance partner a thermal tote bag full of "stuff" to plump up his waist line also.)  I then washed my car and went ballroom dancing.  And as the day ends I can look back and say it was a very pleasurable holiday.  I like combining the traditional with the unconventional - it brings a certain spontaneity to life.
