When Should I Push Back
I work in a competitive environment with several people doing a similar job in my office. I just experienced a repeat of a situation that just drives me up the wall. Part of the job is to contact people and companies and motivate them to do business with our company. Well, I'm fairly successful in getting them to come to visit and start a relationship...that is when they actually get to meet with me! You see, the other people in the office will tell the person waiting to meet with me that either they must talk with whoever happens to be available or in this last situation the individual said I wasn't going to be coming to the office that day (we have varying start/end times that change every day)...so the person had to meet with the individual...and just as they started to open an account, I came into the office which made me and the customer quite uncomfortable. This person does this with quite abandon and customers often tell me after the fact the conversation they had with him. I'm torn between blasting him verbally, making a stink with management or as I've been doing, keep it all internally which is now changing from a simmer to a fast boil because this not only changes the relationshiop that I'd started over the phone but it also takes money out of my pocket!
