Changes

I resisted using a debit card.  I resisted learning to use a computer.  I resisted a lot of "stuff" through the years.  Then I realized that my life was much like standing on a conveyor belt.  I kept moving through life whether I wanted to move or not and resisting change was making that journey very difficult for me.  Now, I make incremental changes in my life each day.  Not only is life more interesting, but I find I am able to evolve less painfully.  And if I make a mistake, it sure is a lot easier to fix a "little" error than one frozen by my rigid attitude.  As we grow older, it's easier to just not put out the energy to learn something new and of course, this position can be rationalized by saying "The way we did things until now worked just FINE...thank you!"  But think about the mature job changers who never learned to use a computer or the popular software programs that are an integral part of most business operations.  Or the person who's spouse handled everything - that is until he or she died.  I had a lady express this to me very eloquently...."My husband loved me too much and then he died."  She was totally lost in handling everyday responsibilities such as writing a check let alone balancing a check book.  So change can be our friend.  Let's embrace it with open arms!
