Living the Same Day For 20 Years
I've worked for a number of years in corporate America. And I've worked with a wide variety of people with a wide range of skills. And through all this morass of humanity, there is one type of person that intrigues me. It's generally the one who brags about being at the same company for a significant number of years. One would think with a lot of years behind them the cache of knowledge would be vast. In some situations this is indeed the case. In others, it's as if the person has lived the same day year after year. They have a closed mind and continue to use outdated procedures, cling to the way something has always been done rather than explore new horizons, and act as if their brain is totally unable to recognize any new information. This person is amazingly wraped up in a self-protecting time warp - that is until a merger or acquisition comes along.
